Citizens Advice Mid-North Yorkshire are leading a project across North Yorkshire supporting litigants in person. We are looking for a solicitor or caseworker to work within our specialist advice team providing high quality advice and representation for clients dealing with issues relating to discrimination, primarily in relation to welfare benefits, housing and employment cases.

The suitable candidate will be able to assist clients, where necessary, in navigating the civil law system including drafting or writing letters; have the skills and knowledge to prepare and present cases to the appropriate statutory bodies, tribunals and courts; as well as negotiating  with third parties as needed. You will be responsible for maintaining case records and ensuring that all casework conforms to the organisation’s appropriate quality standards. You will be supported by a Senior Solicitor and a Project Manager.

The successful applicant will have strong organisational abilities and communication skills. They will also have an understanding of equality and diversity and its application to the provision of advice. You will have experience of delivering discrimination casework either as a solicitor or a caseworker. You will need the ability to use IT systems and electronic resources in the provision of advice, administrative support and in the preparation of reports.  This role can be based at any of our offices in Mid-North Yorkshire or partly from home. We offer flexible working.

Salary: £24,012 – £30,000

Hours: 30-37 hours per week

Responsible to: Specialist Projects Manager
